Frequently Asked Question

How do I join WHSC?

Head to our Sign Up page. You'll join the newsletter, pay your annual dues ($100) through our secure online form, and sign the WHSC Insurance Waiver. Once that's done you're officially a member and cleared to play!

Not sure yet? Your first open practice is always free — no sign-up needed, just fill out the waiver here, and show up!

How much does membership cost?

Annual dues are $100/year. This covers your access to all open practices, eligibility for competitive and recreational league rosters, club events, socials, and more.

If you just want to try a practice before committing, drop-ins are $10. You can purchase a drop-in pass here!

Financial assistance is available on a case-by-case basis. Visit our scholarships page for more info.

How often do you play?

Quite a bit! Here's a quick breakdown:

  • Open Practices — weekly, open to all current and prospective players

  • LA Municipal League — Sunday afternoons and Thursday nights (in season)

  • Glendale League — Monday evenings (in season)

  • OutLoud Sports League — recreational, weeknights (in season)

  • Internal Club League — twice a year, members only

  • Tournaments — throughout the year, domestically and internationally

How competitive is WHSC?

We have something for every level. From our competitive LA Muni and Glendale rosters to our recreational OutLoud Sports teams and low-key internal league — you'll find a spot that fits where you're at. Whether you've never played before or played D1 in college, you're welcome here.

Is it just cis gay men?

Absolutely not. WHSC welcomes all members of the LGBTQ+ family and our allies. We field competitive and recreational teams across all-gender, women's/non-binary, and mixed formats. We're proud to be one of the most inclusive clubs in the country and we're committed to continuing to grow that.

One thing worth knowing — our all-gender LA Muni teams play in a league classified as "Men's" and compete against predominantly cisgender male teams. We want everyone to feel informed and comfortable before signing up for a roster.

What's the difference between competitive and recreational rosters?

Our competitive rosters (LA Muni, Glendale) require tryouts, have attendance expectations, and play against other league teams at a higher level. Our recreational options (OutLoud Sports, Internal Club League, open practices) are more flexible, lower pressure, and open to all skill levels without tryouts.

Do I need to try out?

Only for competitive rosters. Tryouts are held before each LA Muni season — you must attend a minimum number of tryouts to be considered and must be a dues-paying member in good standing. Recreational rosters and open practices do not require a tryout.

What do I need to bring to practice?

Turf shoes only — no cleats on our turf field. Bring water and yourself. We'll handle the rest.

Does WHSC do more than just soccer?

Yes! We host watch parties for LAFC, Angel City FC, USWNT and USMNT games, club socials, fundraisers, and community events throughout the year. We're an active part of the LA LGBTQ+ community and regularly participate in local events and campaigns. Friends of the club are always welcome to join us off the pitch too.

How do I stay in the loop?
